Description
The appellation of Lirac is often overshadowed by Châteauneuf-du-Pape, situated on the opposite side of the Rhone river. But Lirac wines are deserving of equal praise – and not just because they offer great value alongside their expensive neighbour. The reds of the region are bold, structured, aromatic and fresh – everything you want from a hearty Southern Rhone blend. Château de Bouchassy dates back to 1628 and it was acquired by the Degoul family in 1973. Their skill was evident from their very first vintage, which was awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Général Agricole de Paris. Today it is Nicolas Degoul, the fourth generation who continues to make wines with passion and expertise inherited from his great-grandfather. This is deliciously spicy, with notes of strawberry compote, black fruits and garrigue herbs. Perfect for herby sausages, mash and gravy.
