Description
Boekenhoutskloof is the winery behind the iconic fine wine, The Chocolate Block. But they’re not finished in Franschhoek. Hemel-en-Aarde is just 4km from the ocean, and this means that Pinot Noir, which struggles in warmer regions, thrives here. So the Boekenhoutskloof team recently purchased unchartered land there, restored indigenous vegetation and set chief winemaker, Gottfried Mocke, who was Tim Atkin MW’s 2020 winemaker of the year, to work on the vines. This Pinot Noir is certainly worth the effort. It has elegant notes of cranberry, wild strawberry, cinnamon and baking spices and elegant tannins that are a treat with turkey.
